Eric Schoenberg: Acoustic Guitar (1977)

Rounder Records ‎– 3017

I picked this up at a stoop sale along with Schoenberg's other solo album, Steel Strings. Both were in very good condition. Neither are on CD.

Steel Strings is a solo acoustic guitar album, while this album has both solo tracks as well as duets with various bass players. "Lady Madonna" and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" have been posted on youtube:

  1. Beautiful song, I'd love to hear the whole album.

  2. I know him from the album Contemporary Ragtime Guitar he made with his cousin Dave Laibman. It's sort of a classic, great playing and maybe the very first attempt at playing classic ragtime on guitar, a real path breaking effort. I thought he had just disappeared after that!

  3. I've auditioned some of his guitars in the past. He's a well-respected luthier.
